We believe that gastronomy could be the way to serve both the body and the community. Serving delicious and healthy Indonesian meals is one of our aims, such as to create a deep connection with our local environment, including the young generation in the villages around Petang and the vast opportunity that lies in this land. The core of this food venture is a deep connection to local resources and communities, such as every employee in this warung is a true local Balinese from the villages around us. At our place the village`s elementary schoolgirls often practice their Balinese traditional dance moves, and happily perform for you on request. Our kitchen is using exclusively local ingredients for the local dishes, even some herbs, spices and fruits comes straight from our garden. Only some westerner plate has a few outsourced ingredients, such as olive oil or sour cream. We are obligated to help these Balinese rural youngsters, so they not necessarily have to move to the tourist districts for a job opportunity, but we can create together with their help a charming place for the travelers here in the middle of the forest. We would like to demonstrate that our restaurant can be much more than a profit-driven business; we can become vehicles for meaningful change for community empowerment, social responsibility, and that culinary education can be a driver of social mobility. Please note that our employees never had any type of hospitality education before, but through their keen interest and hard work in the kitchen they serve you all the deep flavours of the traditional Balinese hospitality. We hope that blending of education and gastronomy not only elevates the local cuisine but empowers the community by providing learning and employment opportunities, generating pride in local Balinese culture, and ensuring sustainable development here, what we call home.
